About WeQual

The WeQual Awards identifies already successful senior women who are one level below C-suite; aimed at tackling the slow progress in appointing women to executive roles.

Following the success of WeQual London last September, 25% of the winners have since been promoted to the executive committees of FTSE companies.

WeQual's core mission is to bring equality and diversity to businesses worldwide.

About Katie

Driven by a determination to tackle the lack of diversity and equality in the leadership of the world's biggest businesses and beyond, Katie Litchfield has rapidly created a dynamic and well-respected company that is rapidly disrupting the status quo and changing the way multinationals think about organising their leadership.
Katie has developed WeQual into a multi-faceted vehicle to identify, encourage, engage, educate, mentor, showcase and champion the many talented women yet to reach C-suite level.

Beginning with a depth of knowledge gained from 20 years at the Financial Times (working closely with FTSE 100 and Fortune 500 senior leaders) Katie successfully launched the WeQual Awards, in London in 2019 and New York in 2020.

Having world alongside FTSE senior leaders in the UK throughout her 18-year career in the media. Katie has witnessed first hand the challenges companies face in developing people into senior roles. In particular, she was struck by the size of the gap between the target number of women in leading firms and the current figure.

WeQual is Katie's vision to redress this.

Empowered

Women who report into their Executive Committee in the S&P 500 Index. Executive Committee members are encouraged to nominate their direct reports.

Impartial

To remove any bias during the scoring process, 24 finalists will be selected through a blind assessment procedure removing their name and company from all entries.

In-depth

Each finalist had a face-to-face 30-minute interview with an Executive Committee Judge.

Objective Questions

The blind assessment derived from a research-based meta-analysis of the factors and the six characteristics that mark leaders as different from non-leaders, as first used by Kirkpatrick and Locke (1991).

The WeQual Awards categories are mapped against eight roles on the Executive Committee, identifying women who report into their executive committee working in the following areas.

The 10 assessment questions are derived from a research-based meta-analysis of the factors and characteristics that mark leaders as different from non-leaders (Kirkpatrick and Locke, 1991). Importantly, these six characteristics lack much of the gendered and Anglo-American layers that make it harder for women and other minorities to appear as leaders with their own tone and style;

  • Drive
  • Leadership
  • Integrity
  • Self-Confidence
  • Cognitive Ability
  • Knowledge of Business

All entries will be treated with the strictest confidence.
